CARD Day Trips & Leisure Luncheons
Trips depart from & return to the CARD Activity Center,
although return trip times are approximate.
Some excursions may require some walking.
Please note some day trips require the physical ability
to climb stairs.

A Day In Eagle Country
The limestone bluffs and woodlands along the Illinois River offer the American Bald Eagle an ideal winter roosting site.
Come with us on a day-long tour and observe these majestic birds.
There will be a video presentation at the Pere Marquette Visitor Center followed by an observational drive to view the wintering Bald Eagles. Lunch will be at the Bare Foot Inn in Hardin, IL.
Dress warmly, bring binoculars, spotting scopes and cameras. You might also spot Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Wild Turkeys, or Woodpeckers.

The TreeHouse Wildlife Center
This non-profit group is dedicated to the rehabilitation of orphaned or injured wildlife. Join us for a tour & the opportunity to observe & learn the natural history of former animal patients who are permanent residents. Lunch will be just down the road at Moonlight Restaurant.

Pickup/Drop-Off Time: 9:15 a.m.- 1p.m.
Fees: $8 per person, plus individual lunch. NOTE: There’s no admission fee, but donations are welcome.

Principia Observatory
We’re taking a trip to the Observatory at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois for a close up look at the Moon, Mars, and Saturn!
The Principia Observatory was built in 1996 and houses one of the larger reflecting telescopes in the area with a 16 inch main mirror.
Please note: There are 55 steps up to the 32-foot high platform of the dome, plus eight more inside (five courses of 11 steps each, with a turn around above each course). Also, Principia is a non-smoking campus.

St. Louis History & Architecture
Join us on a trip that takes a look into the past. We’ll start with lunch at Caleco’s & then tour the Campbell House Museum. This 3-story townhouse, home of renowned fur trader & entrepreneur Robert Campbell & his family is accurately restored & reflects the Victorian opulence of the 1880s.
NOTE: We’ll be climbing stairs.

Leisure Luncheons
Get together with old friends or meet new friends as we enjoy lunch out & tour local sights or shops.
Participants will travel in a passenger van to all destinations. Cost of lunch & beverages is paid by the participant.

Card Games
Do you like to play rummy, pinochle, or another card games but you can’t find anyone to play with? Well, if your Monday afternoons are open, we may be the place. Come & join other players (55+) in a fun, noncompetitive atmosphere to help each other learn & play various card games. We provide the cards.
Time: 1-3 p.m.
Date: Mondays, Jan. 7-May 26 (No card games on 1/21.)

Board Games
After spending time with us on Mondays for “Card Games”, come back on Wednesdays to play some of your favorite board games, like Monopoly, Scrabble and others. This is a great way to keep busy, be social and keep your mind thinking.

Start your day with a breakfast buffet at the St. Louis Science Center followed by the OMNIMAX® film “Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs”.
