Fishing Derby
The annual Fishing Derby is held Saturday, May 3; Woodland Park, Jaycee Pavilion (Ages 15 & Younger); Registration: 9 a.m. (day of event, on site); Fishing: 10 a.m.; Weigh-In: 11:30 a.m. This annual event is sponsored by the Collinsville Sunrise Kiwanis Club, Illinois Department of Resources (IDNR), and CARD.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own pole, bait and a one-gallon (minimum) bucket. A limited number of rods & reels will be available to borrow, for those without their own. Catch a tagged fish that day & receive a special prize. Opportunities for prizes & surprises will be available for all who attend!
Fun Kits
CARD has put together the perfect collection of picnic-oriented games & activities to make your outing the best ever!! Our Fun Kit includes: Net & Stakes • Volleyball • Football • Badminton Rackets with Birdies • Set of Bases • Softball & Bat • Whiffle Ball & Bat • Frisbees • Kick Ball. Cost is $8 per day or $12 per weekend for residents; $12 per day or $20 per weekend for nonresidents. A $30 deposit is required & refunded upon return of equipment in good order.
Flying 4 Kids
Bring your kite to CARD for the 4th annual statewide “Flying 4 Kids” kite fly! A limited number of kites will be available for those who do not have one. The statewide kite fly was started to raise awareness of the Park District Youth License Plate program which funds the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ youth after-school grant program. Come out, have fun and learn how to fly a kite or refine your kite flying skills!

CBSL Youth Baseball & Girl’s Softball -- Registration: Sun., Jan 20, 1-5 p.m. & Sun., Feb. 17, 1-5 p.m.; for more information, call 344-7513.
Pitch, Hit & Run
Showcase your baseball skills in this local skill competition with a chance at national media exposure. Boys and girls (ages 7-14) will throw pitches at designated “strike zone” targets, hit from a stationary tee for distrance and accuracy, and run from second base to homeplate for time. All Pitch, Hit & Run events will use conversion tables to convert distance and time into a composite point total. Participants have the chance to advance to Sectionals Team Championships, and Nationals (2008 All-Star Week). The Pitch, Hit & Run is brought to you by CARD and the Collinsville Baseball Softball League in cooperation with the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association and Aquafina. Please note: A copy of your birth certificate is required at registration.

Bike Maintenance Clinic
Do you know what to do if you’re out on the trail & have a problem with your bike? This clinic covers brake and shifter adjustment, pre- & post-ride checks, tire changing, and other general maintenance techniques. You can bring your bike if you like. The clinic is taught by staff from The Cyclery.

About CARD Karate
This ongoing program offers new & continuing students an in-depth learning experience that includes discipline, coordination, self-defense, focused concentration, self-confidence & respect for others. Loose fitting, modest athletic attire required to start (no jeans or skirts); uniforms are available for purchase from the instructor. No jewelry or watches may be worn during class.
Karate for Kids Level 1
Focus is on building a foundation for physical fitness & improving motor skills & hand-eye coordination while introducing martial arts training methods & dojo etiquette.
Prerequisite: New students & white belts
Ages: 6+
Time: 6-6:45 p.m.

Karate for Kids Level 2
Orange Belts work on improving agility, flexibility & coordination of martial arts techniques. Purple Belts work on developing strength, stamina & reflexes. Students continue learning martial arts & Japanese terms & practice dojo etiquette.
Prerequisite: Orange or Purple Belt & Gi (uniform)
Ages: 6+
Time: 6:45-7:30 p.m.

Karate for Kids Level 3
Greater concentration for Red Belts as they work on understanding the fundamentals of blocking, punching, striking & kicking techniques used in self-defense. Green Belts build on basic Karate forms & self-defense techniques and work on fundamentals of sparring. Students continue to learn Japanese terms & practice dojo etiquette.
Prerequisite: Red or Green Belt & Gi (uniform)

Students refine martial arts techniques through development of form, power, accuracy & speed. New techniques are taught, as well as how to use them for self-defense. Students continue learning martial arts & Japanese terms & sayings, including the “Code of Conduct”.
Prerequisite: Blue Belt or Consent of Instructor & Gi (uniform)

CARD Pre-Season Adult Softball Tournament
Sign up your team for CARD’s annual pre-season tune-up REC Softball Tournament, featuring Collinsville’s best in softball. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of two games using ASA rules in this double-elimination tournament. Prizes include team trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. All rules will be discussed at a pre-tournament managers meeting. Team registration is at the CARD Activity Center, 10 Gateway Dr., Collinsville, 346-7529.

Adult Co-Rec Dodgeball
DUCK! CARD is now offering Co-Rec Dodgeball. The famous playground game is reborn as an exciting new sport of teamwork, strategy, skill, and fun. Co-rec teams of 6-10 players (at least 2 females) will put it all on the line to outlast opponents in an atmosphere of safe, friendly, yet fierce competition. Games will be played at the Maryville Elementary School gym using special coated foam dodgeballs. Teams will play five games per match each week, along with end of the season playoffs. Remember, no head shots allowed! Get your teams together now; registration packets are available at the CARD office or by mail. Register your team now to be a part of this non-stop Dodgeball action.

Arlington Greens Golf Course
The Course is an 18-hole, par 72 facility of 6,900-7,100 yards with four sets of markers that point directly down the Bermuda grass, double-row-irrigated fairways with little misdirection. Greens are 6,000-10,000 feet of Crenshaw Bent grass with water hazards, continuous concrete/asphalt cart paths; trash cans, towels, watercoolers with cups & ball cleaners around the course. Near the 6th hold are restrooms & vending machines. The course offers open play, tee times, league play, tournaments, group play and partnerships programs with area businesses and organizations. Driving Range/Practice Greens with Sand Bunkers is located east of the clubhouse before the 1st hole; yardage markers are up to 250 yards & club holders are at each station. The driving range has elevated levels of grass areas for driving & a dropped level in front for practicing irons. Four target greens are on the range with flags. Outside boundaries are defined by trees; small/large buckets of balls are available. The practice green has many hole placements.
The Clubhouse/Banquet Room of 5,738-sq.-ft. features a bar & lounge area, fully equipped kitchen, walk-in cooler & a banquet room with a capacity of 200 people; lounge capacity is 100. The traditional clubhouse combines a sports bar with 2 big-screen TVs; full menu & bar selection and it’s open year-round (weather permitting). The ProShop has all your golfing needs.
Leagues & Outings --Leagues play weekdays. Arlington Greens sponsors tournaments. Corporate Outings can be scheduled to occupy the course & banquet room with catered food & beverage options.
